Seirenne: A word of greeting...
Wed Apr 11 09:56:28 2001
To: Residents of the Lagoon

Greetings, Sea-Elves and residents of the Lagoon,

I am a newcomer to these waters having recently arrived within your beautiful culture. Having met a precious few I would like to take a moment and formally introduce myself to those with whom I have yet to share the privilege.

Of my history and lineage I'm afraid I can offer little, as my earliest memories of this young life are those of the simple pleasures gained by a handful of friendships in the wild deep, as well as the nomadic yet spiritual ways of a dear, dear elderly sea-elven woman whose stories knew no end and whose kindness knew no boundary. With each other and the creatures we kept as companion there was never need for title or surname, and so I come to you with neither - simply the name which she herself gave to me, Seirenne.

Our contact with the lands and those living upon them was sparse, often times nonexistent; however, she never failed to impart through her tales the treasures of the heart one might find therein. It is in her memory that I have come now to find these treasures of my own, and hopefully share her unique love of life with others as she had always done with me.

Faya: About Mathlaan and Brief History of the Sea-elves

About Mathlaan
Our Hometown is Mathlaan, a beautiful lagoon surrounded by sunkissed golden sands, and beautiful coral where sea-elves built their homes. We are quite a self-sufficient community with our own healer and trainer, a wonderful bar where Celiade will serve you exquisite food and drink, Nanduil, our necessities storekeeper where you can buy the prettiest container in all of the Realms!

A Short History of the Sea-Elves / Aerandiri
The Nation Leader, and a small group of select council members watch over the Nation. The First Leader was Lleryn, a warrior from the Coral Kingdom. He was part of the original band of sea-elves who left the kingdom to seek new lands. And thus Mathlaan was born. However as diverse as we are, to quote, it is the 'tribal kinship and true friendship' that helps to keep us all together.

The list of former Nation Leaders are as follows: Tebazilen, Alerious, Jancia

To: SEN

Dear all,

Do not worry if you don't roleplay or you feel you are not up to it. All sea-elves are part of the Nation, the race, and will be treated as equally as possible. I hope we will all help each other, both roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike, and to make this neat race and nation of ours great! See note on RP : About Roleplaying for those who would like to join roleplay and remember to vote on note 13 to indicate the roleplay status of your character.

Faya: RP: About Roleplaying
Sat Apr 28 04:11:08 2001
To: SEN

Roleplaying is when you Jack White, Esther Springfield or Alan Lee, get into the skin of the sea-elf Character you are playing and act like him or her or it. To start off, work out a history, and a description for your character. Use help description and see how you can write a description for your character. Post the history of your character on the Nation noteboard, right here, for others to read about, write it in your bio. Use help bio to help you.

To get more into roleplay, ask for a Coming of Age Quest, or sit in a roleplay session when there is one to get a feel and idea of what it is.

Or go explore this site http://envy.nu/rpcrafts for more information about roleplaying in the Realms.

Our hometown was coded by the Immortal Stoney. (Thanks Stoney!) Here's a few things to look out for in this Lagoon. And, do use the great map Danith has created. (A Map)

Donation Room
A Web of Intwined Branches [3] on Map

This room does not save. Meaning if you put any donation of armor or potion into the containers, it will vanish upon reboot. If you want to donate something, send a tell to the Nation Leader Faya or the Herald Radessi. We will keep the donation in a nations' storage for sharing purposes. A list of what we will have in donation will be out soon. Do check back!

Noteboard
The Tree of Communication [2] on Map

This is the noteboard for all sea-elves to communicate to each other. Check here often for news and stories, quests etc. Also, if you are posting a note, please do not address your notes to ALL. When you have a note addressed to ALL, you cannot take it. You will have to remove it, and it means your note will be gone. :)

     The Coral Kingdom    - Maarniniach
     The Obsidian Kindgom - Maarlmori
     The Pearl Kingdom    - Maarmrilla
     The Gold Kingdom     - Maarlaure
     The Ice Kingdom      - Maarhelke

*These five kingdoms are fictitious places and they are other worlds that do not exist on the mud. However, they are a rich source of roleplay ideas if your  sea-elf character comes from there.

Read up more about the kingdoms at the Nation Website

Coming of Age Quest (CoAQ for Short)
A Quest for a sea-elf who wishes to receive the beads and the braids of
the Coming of Age. It can be in the form of a journey, exploration and
item retrieval. It is not compulsory for all sea-elves to take the Quest.
However, many sea-elves undergo this Quest to test their strength, courage
and wisdom and emerge with new enlightenment. When you are level 25,
Seek the Quest from the Nation Leader if you would like to
have one, through a mudmail, racetalk or tells

Find out more about the CoAQ here

Terms used by Other Races
Sea-elves are known to the rest of the Nations as Aerandiri, the sea-wanderers. Pixies may call us fish-elf, swimmer-elf, water-elf. The drow term us as the qel'dathirr. So, please don't be boggled if you hear other races terming you like the above examples. :)

Faya: Vanquishing the Malice

To: SEN

Dear kin

On this eve, clerics from Lady Juliana's guild, and brave sea-elves gathered to face the dreaded sahuagin who have plagued us for the last few months. Inspite of the serious injuries sustained, the clerics and sea-elves perservered and held out fight after fight, their only intend is to eradicate these bloodthirsty monsters and cleanse Mathlaan of their foulness.

And indeed they did! One after another, the sahuagin fell to the swords and spells of clerics and sea-elves alike. The waters ran dark with their fetid blood and the air rang with their dying shrieks. When the last sahuagin was crushed, victory was ours, and our champions stood victorious over the corpses of the foul monsters.

Here now we will always remember the clerics and sea-elves who risked their lives to protect and defend this Lagoon we call home.

Faya: Mathlann Academy Introduction
Wed May 16 22:15:49 2001
To: SEN/Young People

Dear Young People of the SEN

Mathlann Academy will be officially opened this Saturday 19 May 2001 at 1pm EST. A small ceremony would be conducted with a mini quest and followed by a barbeque given by our very own Celiade. (if attendance permits)

The Academy will cover the following, more importantly, talks and help on roleplaying. Game basics and levelling tips will be of minor importance. Tutorials will be scheduled once every week. You need not attend every single one, but you are encouraged to do so. Please check the noteboard to see what you need to do to prepare for each tutorial.

Tutorials will be held every weekend, Saturday or Sunday, depending on the NL's schedule. The confirmed date will be announced on the board six days before the tutorial day. Tutorials may take up to one to two hours, but we will try to end in less then an hour. The tutorial notes will be up on the board or on a website for those who cannot make the date.

The Nation Leader will be presiding over most tutorials, unless special speakers are invited for the session. An Academy Helper has been selected to help the NL and in time, learn how to run the Academy and help young sea-elves in the future.

I hope this introduction has helped, and if you have any questions direct them to me, send me a tell or mudmail me. I check my mudmail. :)

Dio: Dio's past
Fri May 18 22:16:56 2001
To: Role Players

Found on the door step of Balgus, one of the Ice kingdoms strongest warriors, a small child was found. Balgus decided to train the child in the warriors code like the son he had always wanted.  Both were majorly silent talking only when required which helped them get along better. as The child grew so did his skill with weaponry improved.  The towns people who already feared Balgus were mostly indifferent to The child, who had been named Dio because it meant "lord" in a certain language.  All were fearful except for a girl who truly trusted him. Dio's life was going fine until one day when a mysterious tribe of Drow Nephandi attacked... They were testing a new type of magical fire.  A fire that could burn underwater. It was a massacre known to few as "The Baptism of Fire".  The villages warriors were easily defeated and the towns people were massacred. Balgus' hut was the only place left standing. In the Hut were Dio, Balgus, and the girl. (see my bio for what happens now cause I don't want to retype it).

As he left the hut Dio saw the Nephandi send hundreds of magic bolts into the hut.  They didn't see him and most started to leave.  A few stayed behind to clean up any more who might still be alive they never left that town... Homeless and with nothing to do Dio climbed on land and joined The Phoenix Legions in the anti-nephandi wars. becoming veteran leader of The Sea-drakes unit.  With over 50 successful missions he left and came to Darkhaven where he now fights darkness alone as he prefers.

To: SEN

Dear Sea-Elves,

I am glad to announce that our Mathlann Academy is now officially opened.  The opening ceremony went on wonderfully, in spite of me being late for almost forty minutes. I do have to apologize. And our First, Cetrok, did very well in providing a lot of refreshments for the crowd.

The ceremony started with a short speech by myself. I am glad everyone paid attention, well, yes attention. Thank you! Also, our Academy Helper Jenni is made known to everyone, and although it was a pity she could not attend, I wish her the very best in her new responsibility. Finally, we ended with a great fun and munch session, with everyone introducing themselves, and our First came up with an extremely entertaining act that left us all laughing.

Thank you for making this ceremony a great one to remember, and May the Tides protect each and everyone of you in times to come.

Eithrin: Eithrin's Past/History
Mon May 21 00:01:44 2001
To: Sea-Elves

My real mother was a pure Elf and my real father a Sea-Elf.  My mother died giving birth to me, and my father ran away and perhaps got remarried or something. I do not know what happened to him. My mother's sister and her husband were pure Elves. They took care of me until I was about fourteen. Then I was sent to train with a druidess who thought I could make my mark on the world if I traveled to Darkhaven Academy and learned more about my past. I trained for another year, then when I was seventeen, I set off for this academy.

I found that there was a nation for the Sea-Elves, so I decided to join it to find out more about my father's culture.

Faya: There's something about Donations
Thu May 24 09:05:38 2001
To: SEN

Dear Sea-elves,

As most of you, if not all, know we do have a nation storage which holds armor and weapons for loan to leveling sea-elves. Here are some general information about the use of the nation storage.

1. The storage is open for all sea-elves to use. If you require an upgrade of eq, or would like to change any of your eq, send a tell to me if you find me online, or you can send a tell to Cetrok.

2. The nation storage is currently owned by myself. A new storage is undergoing leveling, and this will be our new storage character in the near future.

3. All eq taken from the nation storage are considered loans. They do not belong to you, and you are not allowed to transfer, sell or give away the eq loaned to you from the storage.

4. Please treat the loans with care and repair them if they are in need of repair.

5. If possible, you are encouraged to find out where each piece of eq you have on loan came from. This will help in furthering your knowledge of this mud. :)

6. If you have anything to donate to donations, racetalk and ask whether the item you have is worth keeping. ID it as well. If you still want to donate it, send a tell to me or Cetrok.

7. Special items and eq will be carried in the storage for winners of quests, sea-elves who completed their CoAQs successfully etc.

That is all for now :)
Happy levelling.

Finna: No Legend
Sun May 27 23:28:08 2001
To: SEN

* * *
There were many stories of Finn Mac Cumhall, and of his people, and of the people who were before that. In later days they were known as Elves, Fairies, the Fae, the Faery-folk, the folk of the mounds; they were stories, legends told on and off throughout the years, so intermixed and changed that fiction became fact, and so on. In the beginning of the legends of elves, they came from the sea, and so it has been, perhaps. Finn Mac Cumhall was the most famous figure of mythology, the epitome of a hero: golden-haired, blue-eyed, strong; good-humored, and, of course, of descent of a wilder blood than human. He was recorded to have descendants, but these records faded away, much as the legends and myths that surrounded him, until he was not regarded much anymore as any type of hero but a stereotypical one. The waxing and waning of human, Elvish, and other races awareness or perception of myth, fact, and legend, however, do not change what is. What is is yet to be defined; what is, is that there are many who count on themselves to be  special and different and to be the next great legends. What is is that one day, out of the rolling waves and mists that make the sea, came one girl, and she was not different from the rest, in  any way, in any form. She called herself Finna Mac Cumhall, and none challenged it, so Finna Mac Cumhall it has stayed. Her true past will be a lie, since the truth is only up to her, a common thief, to tell.

Jenni: First Tutorials
Sat Jun 2 00:31:30 2001
To: Young Sea-elves

Vedai, all

Our inaugural tutorials were held last week, the first run by Faya on her own (with occasional asides from Lanifin). The second was held with both Faya and Juliana. We talked about the basics of roleplaying and paid particular attention to where to begin for new RPers.

It was stressed that a clearly thought out history was essential to developing a strong character. Being aware of where you have come from and what you have experienced allows you to respond more readily in character and makes your character much more believable and complete.

We discussed the elementary mechanics of roleplaying also, how to use the emote command, what makes a good description as well as some of the things to avoid. The latter part of the tutorials, especially the second, were run as  a question and answer session. This part was a really valuable chance to talk with experienced RPers and learn from them.

For those of you that missed these first two, I hope you'll be able to make the next ones. It was a very friendly, informative way to learn about roleplay and will hopefully develop in whatever way suits the needs of the people that attend. If you want to hear more about what went on or have any other questions please feel free to mudmail me, send me a tell or reach me over racetalk. I almost certainly won't know the answer, but I'll know who will. :P

Dyaeni: Coming of Age

To: Aerandiri ATTN Leaders

Vedai Aerandiri,

As according to our customs, and from what I've learned of them, Coming of Age is an important aspect of our society...but only if the one coming wants it bad enough. To my credit, I want to be as big a member of this society as is  possible, I want to help, I want to live, I want to learn.

I suppose the right wording for this now, since I am kind of winging it, is: (we have no word for request, darnit...) I would like to request a Quest.

It sounds corny, sure, but hey, we've done it for years, from what I under- stand, this is how we do it :)... I know our leaders have already met me and  know a great deal about me, but I'm sure even then, they'll find something  to interview me on :) hehehehe...

Faya: Naming the CoAQ
Thu Jun 7 07:34:54 2001
To: SEN

Dear Sea-Elves

I was packing away some scrolls last night, and something came into my mind, and I thought I'd share this with you. For many years, our traditional rites of passage, the Coming of Age Quest, is just simply known as the Coming of Age Quest.

With our race's rich culture and history, I believe that such a important ritual like this should not be simply called a Coming of Age Quest. I would like to give this quest an identity something we, the Aerandiri, can associate with. You will be the one to come up with a new name for the Coming of Age Quest and if yours is voted as the one our people want, you will be  greatly rewarded. All sea-elves are encouraged to come up with a new name for the CoAQ, you may include the Aerandiri name as well, and write a reason why you chose such a name.

Post your names and reasons up here on this board for everyone to look at. The closing date for submission is 12 midnight EST 12th June 2001. All entries will be put up for vote after the closing date.

Warmest Regards
Faya DarkRaven, Leader, SEN

To: Young Sea-elves

A boy has the right to dream, there are endless possibilities before him, he must choose a path. whatever awaits him down that path he must choose whether accept or deny the difficulties ahead. All children leave on this quest. As they travel they are constantly asking questions what's out there? what's waiting for me? Who made me what did they make me for? should I follow my dreams or the advise of others?

Remember that no one will give you a map. Follow your dreams and create your own destiny and don't fear failure and perhaps your quest will end...  as said by Balgus, Master swordsmen of the Ice kingdom, to his trainees.

Vedai :)

This is the second note I've posted concerning this, the first I (oops) removed without realizing it...(My bad). Anyway, it's official now, and this little historian is looking for some history. I've already received several emails from the first posting; thank you to all who have sent and/or will send again.

What I am requesting are stories, legends, and the like that have been handed down through families, friends, told among townspeople or circulated the nation I am, again, accepting all (dated) stories so that I may put them on a webpage I am currently working on. My hopes are to have the webpage up and ready by  December, 2001, so that the SEN may have a reference point of not only those in power, but a vantage from their fellow Sea-elves. History can be told, written or sang, remember that, if anything else.

Make your mark on society by submitting a tale, leave a handprint in the cement My email address is Trulyyours9@hotmail.com... This is your chance to help  create something beautiful. Till then, Aerandiri :)

Cilla: Renaming the CoAQ
Fri Jun 15 12:22:52 2001
To: Aerandiri

*writes in an elegant Telerin, due to lack of fluency in Common*

Vedai nyissierynn,

I am Cilla, formerly of Maarhelke. I am aware that I am new to this land, and thus my opinions and ideas may be a bit strange... this is in response to Rien Faya's note that the Coming of Age Quest should be renamed, out of respect for this tradition.  I nominate calling this the Ripple Quest.  A person wishing to undertake this can say that they are ready to make their own ripples.  Why Ripple? Because ripples start out small, then spread larger and larger, causing more ripples. They eventually meet other ripples, and with a bit of wind to aid, they may turn into large waves which can change the world.  When an Aerandiri is ready to make their own ripples, they are trying to become greater, to send out their own concepts and ideas, to try and change the world in a positive way.  I must cease rambling.

Dio: The Legend Of Balgus
Fri Jun 22 02:04:40 2001
To: RPers

This is a legend of my master Balgus, who passed away long ago.

Most warriors were just men who could swing a sword at a demon and live to tell about it.  But some who were true warriors lived for the battle and fought for honor.  Balgus was one of these strong men He was part of a band of warriors who called themselves the "Zero blades" they traveled around the seas searching for opponents who could challenge them.

One day though Balgus was separated when hoards of fish came all at once from one direction and sent them in many directions.  It was quite a beating and they were all stunned and fell asleep.  When he awoke he found himself in a village on land, the people seemed kind, and fed him until he recovered.

He soon learned that the land was not perfect and that there were two gods at war.  Sio and Neo-Diovo, Sio was good and was trying to protect the land while Neo-diovo who was an offspring of Diovo who was an evil god who wanted to spread evilness and suffering across the land.

Without warning a wolf twice the size of a house stacked on top of another house.  He bore a sword that was Balguses height... but then again Balgus's sword was as big as his.  The two warriors lunged at each other and began to engage in some of the fiercest combat ever competed in by a mortal. There was such power that shockwaves were flying everywhere. The people were amazed by Balgus' strength.

But alas due to the fact that he was a mortal caused him to tire eventfully. Suddenly an Ape as large as the wolf appeared with a spear but the wolf was a truly masterful fighter and he charged foreword slicing the spear in half. Balgus knew he had no chance but luck was on his side for. Just then over from a cliff leapt the zero blades ever eager to join a fight that might challenge them.  The wolf may have been skillful enough to defeat Balgus but 6 warriors with similar skill, not a chance.  He fought but to no avail and soon he died in a blaze of flame The people were ever grateful and wished the Zero Blades to stay with them But the Zero Blades refused the money, wives, and royal titles, for that is not the way of a true warrior to let himself become fat off his own laziness so they left seeking more challenges.  May all you warriors be so kind and perhaps your skill will be as much

this is the story of my master's greatist triumph I hope you will live such an adventure like he and I have.

[ 27] Cetrok: Equipment Storage
Thu Jul 12 01:44:37 2001
To: SEN, Newbies, Councillors
Jecarious our official nations storage packed down with nice equipment for the
newbie as well as the skilled player. Slowly I am collecting high end avatar
equipment but this is taking time. Eventually I will have a list up of exactly
what equipment I have available for what levels but as with all things this
will take time. If you see me on and need a reequip or to borrow some level
equipment please send me a tell. If I do not respond please beckon me cause I
may be levelling an alt or away from my computer monitoring chats and what not
For the time being I will focus mainly on level equipment for that is the
things most people need.

Remember unless otherwise stated items are loaned not given and should not be
sold, auctioned, or given away without mine or Faya's permission. It is your
duty as a borrower to keep the equipment in good condition and to return it
upon finding the same item yourself or outgrowing it. Accidents with scrapped
equipment do happen and will be understood but please do not make a habit of
such. Special rare and high end items will be available as temp loans or
gifts granted at the completion of quests or other such items. If you have
things you wish to donate to the nation send me a mudmail of your times on and
what you have to offer so that I can review the stats and determine if we can
use such equipment.

[ 28] Faya: Olympics - Truimph of the Waves I
Sun Jul 15 04:15:43 2001
To: SEN
My good nation.

This is the first time, our great nation has won the Olympics and by
just a narrow 1 point! The Tides were truly with us that day. The
participants were Falennt Sarien, Vespers Treves, Giko Lifebringer
and our First, Cetrok Aengdi. These kinsmen have truly brought glory
and pride to the Aerandiri!

The Olympics begin with the Pageant that Falennt most promptly won,
in spite of the strong competition. This was our first Gold for the
Nation. In the event, the Alphabet Mob Quest, Falennt,Vespers and Giko
raced against time and space to bag silver for this event. Vespers'
careful preplanning and co-ordination were a huge contributing factor
to our Nation's victory.

Our group did not do quite well in the next event where Lady Luck was
so important in getting the items required. Our kinsmen tried their best
but all victories were taken by the rest of the groups.

The next event was the Bull Fight, which demanded great strength and power.
Four of our kin entered the arena to challenge the Bulls, and the rest of
the Nations. Although none of our kinsmen survived till the end, they
died honourably and tried their best to survive as long as it allows them to.
Well done, Falennt, Vespers, Giko and Cetrok.

The Bull Fight left everyone exhuasted, yet excited. With the
rush of adrenaline still hot in their blood, the Nations moved
on to the last event, the Loremaster's Competition. Falennt
represented the Nation for this event, and won with his rich
and intricate description.

Our National Flag also came up first amongst the others. And it
will be put somewhere within Mathlaan for all to view and be
proud of. Truly, it was a great day of victories for the Aerandiri.

Although I was not able to join in person, this Olympics, I was there
fully in spirit with our kinsmen.
We are truly proud of them. Well done again, Falennt, Vespers, Giko and Cetrok.

menace has appeared by the name of Varrick. He threatens the Dunedain

If this crazed gith does happen to be a danger to you, the Nation will

Please bewarned of this gith. He believes he knows great spells and he

Vedai,

Yesterday, I was happily trolling my way through Shadowport, following
instructions given by a friend, when I took a turn and fell into a
whirlpool. Cetrok said yesterday I must have been WAY off in order
to get to the whirlpool, so my best guess is I had the wrong
instructions. Regardless, I should have been looking where I was
headed. The point of this note is to apologize to those people
who *have* loaned me items as such items were unrecoverable.
I was being stupid, a hothead, if you will, and listening to
racetalk instead of the roads. I cried shortly after waking up
next to Sonoria, concious of what had happened and the result.

I completely understand if some are mad at this point, mad at me,
because I'm probably the angriest of all. It's unlike me to lose
such valuable things. Unfortunately, the only thing I can do at this
point is apologize and hope in my heart that someday, I'll be
able to replace the lost items. Sorry just doesn't seem to be
enough at this moment...

Dear Dyaeni, I am distressed to hear of your drowning in the whirlpool.
It is a terrible way to go for one who is normally at home in water.
The waters of Shadowport must be polluted with evil toxins to have

There seems to be a great deal of correspondence of late concerning

In the past two days, I have been given the honor to both tell and hear
stories. The first, I told, of the Aerandiri's History and Balance, the
second, however, I was approached and told by Arturis. I'd like to thank
him specifically, for having the guts to tell a story like his to a perfect
stranger like me. I have asked for stories from many people and recieved a
few, but never has anyone sat with me and told it from his or her own mouth.

Should anyone else like to do the same as brave Arturis here, and hook me for
storytime, I would be very happy to sit and listen. I generally ask if I may
put the stories told or given to me on my webpage, which, as I have announced,
will be up by Christmas for the SEN's enjoyment.

Thank you to those who have listened, and those who have spoken,

Minotaurs from shadows leaped on either side of me, saliva dripping below
their snouts and greasy hair matted and spiked. Intelligence gleamed in
their eyes as the first attacked. My blade was kicked to one side. He
sliced low, I parried with my second sword, and brought my fist back to
plow into his ugly, pierced nose. BASH! Minotaur one went down, and the
second leaped to fill his place. This one was weaker, however, obviously
off-guard due to my tiny frame. He was run through in three seconds and
I walked off as a theif, their armour jingling in my basket. This little
warrior, however, hasn't much of a conscience when she's facing bloodshot
giant bulls. Mahn Tor, their leader, was exceptionally more polite, he
apologized for the earlier misunderstanding and assured me he didn't *mean*
to spit in my eyes. I drank my tea and played the diplomat, and, as I
walked away, his guard's armour clanked again in my bag.

I can remember coming up against the white mistresses when I was younger;
two attacked, sliced off my head, and I died in the snow. However, this
time it was not I whom lost their head, but the mistress. She jumped up
from her sewing and said "Intruder!" I tried to explain I was no intruder,
but she ran for the fireplace poker and heated the iron tip. The smell of
burnt flesh lit from her hand when it heated, but she looked fully prepared
to save the queen. She stabbed, once, twice, burned me on my thigh when
I wasn't quick enough to jump out of her way. I disarmed her, sending the
poker too far into the fire for her to get and she ranted on about the queen
and her duties. I promptly sliced her jugular open, allowing the cold, blue
blood to freeze on the ice at our feet. West, I found the queen. All beauty
and light, it seemed, until I peer closer at her. In her, I found evil, and
I became exorcist. Her blood may have been blue in the eyes of her people,
but spilling across the floor, it was black and rank of seafood. I sac'd
her body though, which I hadn't done to any other corpse the entire trip.
I still don't know why I deemed her good enough for the gods.

Coral Depths is always a treat to travel through - except when you've no idea
where you are going. I wandered about until I found this creepy little cave,
where the eels were the only thing shining, and entered the realm of the
merpeople... Nice thing is no one's aggro down there, so I continued placidly
through the town, searching for an interesting item to bring back to our
Leader. I smiled to a hefty merman with giant biceps and a wide tail;
his response was to growl my direction and bark, extremely loudly. I
figured it was a merman thing. Onward, I realized just then how many of
these people I had killed myself, how many mothers must have wept,
how many fathers raised their fists to the gods, for I had killed mostly
children in the school. Pain burrowed into my heart and I ran from the
square, willing tears not to come, not to show me for what I was. I
tripped on some coral and went down hard, scraping up my knees and one
hand. Blood smoked the water red and my heart panicked at the site of
sharks lurking. Again, I fled, hoping to outrun them. I ended up in a
small shop, where the owner made me laugh by telling me how he catches eels
From that man, I bought a jar of eels and decided to move to the next city.
Laughter truly is the best medicine, but even medicine can't dull a shark's
nose for red, pulsing life, or lack of it.

The sun shone brightly on New Thalos' main market. Hawkers and the smell
of heated fruit screamed to passer-bys to be noticed. I watched a girl
look wide-eyed at Krista's apples and lick her lips. Those lips seemed to
hang precariously from her dirty face, as did her skin on her bones. I
could see that her clothes were no more than rags and her feet, calloused
Her eyes caught mine and sparked as though she knew my intentions. Leaning
over the counter, I bought three apples, and, giving the girl two, I smiled
and hoped silently she'd be able to endure. I walked back through the streets
and the girl followed! I grinned and thought about the seahorse who'd trailed
me all the way to my mother's house when I was very small... Some lessons are
indeed bought, and some are given free of charge. This little girl could
not pay for food, but she had enough diamonds in her smile to last me my
whole life as she skipped away. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her
peek into the alley, a little hand stretched out, and she dropped one apple
into another tiny hand, which belong to whom I can only guess was her brother.

Vedai,

I know my stories sound pretty derogatory as to my roll in life, pointing
out the harsh realities that are the world we live in, theft, poverty,
murder, etc, but I'd like to explain what I've learned from them.

I had to do this quest twice, and where I was angry with myself for
screwing up the first time, our Leader was not angry at all. She assured
me that it was a hard quest and I was bound to run into problems. I didn't
believe her, however, because I am not used to failing so miserably.

The point being, when I wrote read these stories to myself again after
writing them, I realized that it wasn't what I thought of me, but what others
thought of me. Interesting how epiphanies can just pop out of nowhere eh?
I think I'll start paying attention to what I see around me than be self-
centered and concentrate one myself.

Yours,

Though it may seem odd, I am writing this letter because I feel it
deserved to those who have made it through the years since the first
and second councils. I offer my personal apology for all past
tresspasses of the years past, and the troubles cause by them. While
many of you may not have known the reasoning behind them and most
likely would not care to hear, I will default on the situation to start anew.

I would like to freely offer my services to the nation, as to what services,
the afore mentioned know my abilities. Please take this apology, there is not
much more that I have to offer than my self to the nation.

After running for years abroad, it'd be nice to call somewhere "home" again.

Hello fellow sea-elves..
It's time to test you knowledge of the realms. It's just a small quest, because
I want to check the number of participants. If I think there are enough
participants I will post new quests every once in a while. The quest is open for
everyone. None of the areas are extremely dangerous, in only 1 or 2 are aggro
mobs. All areas are always accessible. If you are stuck i might even give ya a
hint. Please mudmail me the answers before august 19th 2001.

Give the roomtitle:
1. where is 'Death to Luther'written?
2. where is a skull with the numbers '666' written in it?
3. MMMmmmmmmmmmm. Smells real good in here (you lie to yourself). Nothing
here but a large vat in the middle of the room.
give the Mobname:
4. XXX's been employed here for much longer than he can remember. He
drinks as much profit as he makes. Standing 6'4" and weighing about 310
lbs., though, who's going to tell him different?
5.He seems to know his way with weapons. And he wants to show you what he can do
6. XXX has a mischievous look about him, as though at
any moment he could kill you, or kiss you. He wears shabby, threadbare
and has a dirty face. Someone should hand him a washcloth.
7. Somebody says "Kann ich ihnen helfen?"
(continued on next note)

[ 53] Jaron: Forgiveness

Few are left that know of any previous councils save from stories. I
want you to know, I never hated you. In fact, I sometimes liked you
more than some other sea-elves. Sometimes I wished we had come to arms,
I would have liked to test the Green Flame against your dragon art. And
yet that may still happen, for a seer I am not. Though the future is
dark, I hope the present can be welcoming to you. May the tides be
your home again, and the Lagoon your resting place.

[ 54] Lanifin: Generalship
Sun Aug 12 20:30:02 2001
To: Sea-elfs
Hey sea-elves,
I'm getting started with some of the General duties, some of them big
some not so big. But before we can get into the big stuff we have to
get the little things out of the way. This part is going to be fun
especially for all of you newbietars out there, because dying is fun.
All agreed? Great. Anyways, since part of my new job is to run, I'm going
to start going on short small runs, (Bammy, FT, BR) to get everyone
experienced then we can possibly move on to bigger mobs. That's all in
the distant future tho, since I don't yet know how many of you are
interested. Anyhow, this is just to broadcast my intentions to everyone
OOCly, I'll have more notes soon, so check back in.

[ 56] Annabella: my picnic at Camelot
Fri Aug 17 22:03:26 2001
To: Sea-elfies
Hi all,
An amazing thing happened to me today. I met an elf thiefy the the
other day (land-loving type) and he invited me out for a 'picnic'
to get some madening voices to wear. Well, it all started well
enough, we met King Arthur, passed an eternal gorge and fought
a mad crow, but then disaster ! Somehow I forgot to hide before
trying to navigate the maze .. and the mad crows attacked me. I'm
afraid I panicked and fled into a trap (not fatal kind thankfully).
Well, I had to call upon my deity to save me. I needed to get a
armor spam, so we talked while it was happening and it turns out
that I met him years ago at the Darkhaven Marina .. in fact I
was the reason he too up thieving in the first place - at the
time I was making some cash fishing out lost property from the
water .. he lost something and needed some gold to give to me
so he went and stole of a Darkhaven guard !
Second attempt to reach Madness went ok, and we killed it
several times ... and plenty time to picnic between kills :)
Well, I'm hoping he'll take me on other excursions soon *beams*
